Today I thought I would share with you all parts of my hair care routine and what I use on my hair to keep it in good condition and ready for styling.
I've always been lucky with my hair as my Mum is a hairdresser, therefore I can upkeep my trims every 8 weeks or so, although more recently I have been having it trimmed less as I've moved out and I've been trying desperately to grow it. Also from my mother I was blessed with incredibly thick hair (I say blessed, I don't actually know if this is good or not). Anybody with super thick hair will know that it takes ages to dry and ages to style. It's so thick that people have even asked me if I'm wearing a wig!
Throughout the week, I tend to wash my hair about 2-3 times. I like to go at least three days after washing my hair before washing it again. If you wash your hair too much, you can strip it of its natural oils and then your scalp will try desperately to keep replacing them, (therefore making it greasy). I shampoo my hair twice as well when washing, my mum always said the first wash it to clean it and the second is to make your hair shine. Once shampooed, I go on to a really good conditioner and just apply it to the ends of my hair and swill.
Anyway without further ado...Below are a few things I am really loving at the moment when it comes to my Hair Care routine and what I apply to my hair once it has been washed.
Starting from left to right then and you may also notice these have been pictured in height order (too cool I know). First up, is Schwarzkopf's Got2b Oil-licious Styling Oil with Argan Oil. I purchased this on a whim to try it out when I felt my hair was getting a little dry on the ends. However, although it does help to add a little moisture to the ends of my hair, there is another reason why I have grown to love it. I often curl my hair on the first day after washing, come day two and three I find a little bit of this oil spread out through my hair with my hands helps to define my curls and saves me from adding more heat to my hair. I'm all good to go!
Secondly, is Lee Stafford's Hair Growth Leave in Treatment I have been using this for about a month now as I'm still trying to add a little more length to my hair. Although I haven't seen a massive difference in growth yet this really helps to condition my hair and it smells lovely. I spray it from roots to tip after washing and comb it through. It will be interesting to see whether this does help my hair to grow quicker once I have used it for a little longer.
Next up, is TRESemme's Textured Styling Spray. To be completely honest, I haven't used this product more recently but it was an absolute favourite of mine during the summer and I pretty much used it everyday. All you have to do is simply spray it into wet hair and scrunch your hair with your hands and leave to dry naturally. My hair is quite wavy naturally so this just help to define the waves and give it that beach look effect!
Another one of my favourites is from TRESemm
that I never miss in my haircare routine. It is their Heat Protecting Spray. Everytime I wash my hair I will spray this in before I've added Lee Stafford's Hair Growth Spray. I believe that this is one of the main reasons why my hair stays in a good, springy condition and refrains me from getting loads of split ends because believe me, I've been there! It's one of the best heat protecting sprays I've used.
V05 Mega Hold Mousse, the first time this got used in my hair was on a girls weekend in Manchester. We had all booked into a blow dry salon to get our hair curly blow dried before a night out (highly recommend a curly blow dry, makes your hair super bouncy and awesome). The hairdresser used this in my hair before blow drying and I found that the blow dry lasted me pretty much until my next wash. Whenever I curl my hair now I always use a little golf ball sized amount throughout my hair to help give it some hold.
Silvikrin Hairspray, the maximum hold one (number 5). I know there's numerous amounts of different hairsprays out there but my Mum has always used this one on her customers and it used to always be the one I used to steal from her. However, I have tried other hairsprays and I don't find them to give as much hold as this one or I find that they hold your hair in but make it super crunchy.
Batiste Blush Dry Shampoo, this is a life saver in the mornings when I'm getting ready for work and I realise my hair is starting to go greasy. I spray a little bit of this on my r massage it in, it dries up the grease and again I'm good to go!
To style my hair I usually use either my wide plated GHD's if I want to straighten it, my thin GHD's if I want to curl it or I may use curling tongs/heated rollers depending if I have the time.
What's your hair care routine? Are there any staple products that you couldn't live without? Let me know! B x
